Turkey Burgers with Goat Cheese, Sautéed Onions, and Cucumber Salad

#FamilyFavorite My husband loves this, I love this and my kids ASK for it.. “Mom, can we have the lettuce wrapped burgers with goat cheese?” Music to my ears!! Anyway to get the kids to eat more vegetables is HUGE for me!! Let me know how you like them 🙂

This recipe is from the Sugar Impact Diet by JJ Virgin where we also found some other awesome recipes!

Cucumber Salad:

  • 3 mini or Persian cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp white win vinegar
  • 2 tsp EVOO
  • 1/8 tsp himalayan salt


  • 1 Tbsp EVOO
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/8 tsp himalayan salt


  • 1 1/2 lb lean ground turkey
  • 3/4 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 garlic powder
  • 1/2 himalayan salt
  • 1/4 ground black pepper
  • 4 large romaine lettuce leaves
  • 2 oz goat cheese, crumbled


For the cucumber salad, combine the cucumbers, vinegar, oil, and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.

For the onions, heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over the medium-high heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, 8-10 minutes. Season with salt.

For the burgers, combine the turkey, basil, garlic powder, salt & pepper in the bowl. Form into four 3/4-inch- thick patties. Heat a nonstick grill or pan over medium-high heat and add the burgers. Cook, turning once, until an instant-read thermometer registers 165 degrees F, about 5-6 minutes per side.

Place a lettuce leaf on each of four plates and top with the burger. Top each with 1/4 of the onions and 1/4 of the goat cheese.
